GRLZ the play

Once upon a time, not that long ago. In a strange country, so close but far away. A young girl finds herself trapped with a group of misfits, in a facility for young women who are dangerous to society. 

Everyday the GRLZ practice strict routine and discipline. They are preparing to showcase their reformation for the ‘much beloved’ leader and the rest of the rotten western world. But when performance is key to survival, a moment in the spotlight can also become a radical act. 

GRLZ is a daring new play sparked by the real-life story of its creator and inspired by the #WeAreAllPussyRiot movement. It follows a group of institutionalised young women fighting for ownership of their own story.

It is performed in English and Auslan.
